On December 6, 2018, ENABLE.EU was presented at a side event at the COP24 climate change conference in Katowice, Poland. The event brought together decision makers, environmental activists, industry representatives and scientists to discuss policy, societal and technological options to achieve the global energy transition. Key elements of the political, economic, societal, and technological options for a successful energy transition were presented, followed by an interactive panel discussion with the audience to discuss stakeholder involvement and the influence of individual decisions and preferences on technological choices and the success of policy implementations.
In the first part of the session, Mária Bartek-Lesi of REKK and Hector Pollitt, Cambridge Econometrics discussed Understanding the determinants of individual energy choices on behalf of ENABLE.EU. The subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Stefano Proietti of ISINNOVA and entitled “How do we articulate the role of individuals, companies and technology for a successful energy transition”, featured Arnulf Jäger-Waldau, of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC), Emilie Magdalinski, of the Jacques Delors Institute, Miguel Muñoz Rodriguez, Head of Climate Policies, Iberdrola, and Bernhard Kohl, Strategic Environmental Management – European Affairs, voestalpine, AG.
